 It is hard to believe that we are beginning our fifth year at 60 Galloway Road this month. In some ways it feels like we are just getting started in our NEW location but in others, so much has transpired! From the global COVID-19 pandemic, to all the achievements of our dedicated students, we stand ready to face the future never giving up on our commitment to passing along the principles of Traditional Taekwondo Training.

Welcome to the February 2021 edition and the 135th issue of the 
Chosun Taekwondo Academy e-newsletter! 
The global COVID-19 Pandemic is almost a year old and although we can never minimize the tragic consequences of this crisis, we have also discovered some unexpected silver linings... mainly in the area of outreach using the online ZOOM platform. In that effort, we have upgraded the online experience by enhancing the video and audio capabilities, thanks to some generous donations from several CHOSUN students. KAMSAHAMNIDA!!!

Dear Martial Arts Enthusiast,  Welcome to the January 2021 edition and the 134th issue of the  Chosun Taekwondo Academy e-newsletter!  So many thoughts come to mind in summing up the year 2020... for many it was a year of devastation and tragic loss, some found new opportunities but every person on earth was effected in some way by a force of nature that we were woefully unprepared for. But here we are, still fighting an invisible foe, now with more weapons to help us, and as they say, a light at the end of the tunnel. We are indeed living through a crisis. Although the word crisis, connotes an unstable or crucial time, it also implies a turning point containing the seeds of hope and transformation.  The words on our Zen calendar page for December seem to capture the essence of the moment: Surrender to what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be. ONWARD AND UPWARD...NEVER GIVE UP! The Chosun e-newsletter Archive Volume 11 #12 December 2020

 Dear Martial Arts Enthusiast, 

As 2020 comes to a close, it is safe to say that it is a year no one will forget. But a global pandemic does not adhere to a calendar and although hope is on the horizon, we have a distance to go. Our CHOSUN community remains strong due in no small part to the underlying tenets of taekwondo that infuse our martial arts practice with rectitude.  
COURTESY   INTEGRITY   PERSERVANCE   SELF-CONTROL   INDOMITABLE SPIRIT 
Writing about lessons learned from the pandemic, Pope Francis commented,
"To come out of this crisis better, we have to recover the knowledge that as a people we have a shared destination. The pandemic has reminded us that no one is saved alone. What ties us to one another is what we commonly call solidarity."

We owe a debt of gratitude to all health care and essential workers. The burden of this crisis and the sacrifice they have endured will never be forgotten!

 Dear Martial Arts Enthusiast, 

We are settling in to our new normal and accepting the graceful acceptance of constant change.  We have had to curtail many of the events that we would normally host, but even so, we have realized progress in spite of the situation. Recently, we were proud to promote quite a few black belts and are on track for a school-wide color belt/stripe promotion test next weekend.
Also, take note of other upcoming events:

Annual Tanksgiving Sunrise Harvest Meditation/Qigong Class

 Dear Martial Arts Enthusiast, 

Chosun 2020 Fall/Winter Schedule was included with your September invoice and will take effect September 1, 2020
Please advise if you have not received it.

Chosun re-opened in early July for in-person and continued online classes. Classes have been well attended and students are excited to be back in the dojang and training with fellow martial artists. For those who prefer to attend online classes or live to far from the school, the virtual classes offer a valuable alternative. 
We are extremely grateful for all the support our students, instructors and families have shown during this uncertain time!
